The last month or so leading up to the start of my adventure have been flying past. It seems like only yesterday that I was stating to enquire about shipping my bike to Canada and now here I am on my way to deliver my bike to James Cargo.

This past week has been an absolute whirlwind of activity. I’ve finished my job, been testing my motorcycle recovery kit (more on that later), washed & polished my bike, some last minute shopping for all those little bits I forgot about and final got everything packed on the bike (except the items I’m taking with me on the plane).

One thing that has got my slightly worried is my replacement handlebars. I ordered them nearly two weeks ago and they only turned up today. I was starting to think that I’d have to try to take them with me on the plane as luggage when i fly to Canada next week. Unfortunately I ran out of time to fit them, so I’ll have to see if I can do it tomorrow when I drop the bike off, or it will have to wait until I get to Canada.

Tomorrow it’s just a short ride from Portsmouth to Heathrow. Then I’ll hand the bike over, before flying back to Guernsey for a week to arrange any last minute details before I leave Guernsey myself on the 26th and the adventure really begins!
